Politeknika Txorierri Showcases Innovation at LCAMP Conference with the Digital Twins Workshop

The Digital Twins on Smart Manufacturing project was successfully showcased during the international LCAMP Conference “Global Connection for Local Change”, held on 22 April in Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain). The workshop, titled “Digital Twins on Smart Manufacturing”, was one of the key sessions dedicated to advanced manufacturing and served as an important promotion for the project.

The session brought together 36 participants from 9 European countries: Spain, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Portugal, demonstrating the strong international interest in Digital Twin technologies and their application in Vocational Education and Training (VET).

The workshop was jointly delivered by APRO Formazione and Politeknika Txorierri, combining strategic and practical perspectives. Annalisa Rizzo, from APRO Formazione and the project’s coordinator, opened the session with an overview of the initiative. She presented the project’s objectives, the partnership, and the expected impact, highlighting its mission to bridge the gap between education and industry by integrating Digital Twin technologies into VET systems.

Following this introduction, Xabier Ugarte, teacher at Politeknika Txorierri, guided participants through a hands-on demonstration of the project’s main results via the e-learning platform. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the core outputs developed within the project, including: the modular training course, the self-evaluation tool, virtual labs, and the micro-credential system, all designed to support flexible, industry-aligned upskilling pathways.

This practical approach allowed participants to directly experience how the project translates innovation into concrete educational solutions aligned with Industry 4.0 needs.

The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged active participation, discussion and exchange of ideas among attendees from different countries and professional backgrounds. The session generated great interest, with participants highlighting the relevance, quality and applicability of the results. The organisers received very positive feedback and congratulations for the work carried out within the project.

The Digital Twins on Smart Manufacturing project aims to equip learners, teachers and professionals with the skills required to design, simulate and optimise industrial processes using advanced digital technologies. By leveraging tools such as artificial intelligence, robotics and cybersecurity, the project contributes to strengthening the digital and sustainable transformation of the manufacturing sector.

This successful participation in the LCAMP Conference reinforces the project’s growing visibility and impact at the European level, while also highlighting the key role of the partners in driving innovation in VET and fostering closer collaboration between education and industry.
